General Mattis did not disclose his ties to a lobbying firm, The Cohen Group, responsible for developing international business deals for China. Gen. Mattis co-wrote a column slamming President Trump for his “America First” domestic and foreign policy initiatives.
Don’t forget that it was President Trump’s ‘America First’ policy that held China accountable for what they were doing to our nation’s farmers and manufacturers. China not only paid those farmers back through tariffs, but they are now buying even more made in America produce and products than ever before.
Former Defense Secretary Mattis was one of four writers for the Foreign Affairs column on November 23rd. In the column, Gen. Mattis had plenty to say about the Trump administration’s ‘America First’ policy towards China.

The column says that “the United States today is undermining the foundations of an international order manifestly advantageous to U.S. interests, reflecting a basic ignorance of the extent to which both robust alliances and international institutions provide vital strategic depth.”
President Trump made it abundantly clear that the age of the military-industrial complex designing our military operations is over. Those a part of the resistance to ‘America First’ policies, like Gen. Mattis, don’t get paid from lobbying firms if bombs aren’t flying.

They want you to believe that “to achieve defense in depth, simply strengthening the U.S. military is not enough” because tanks, missiles, guns, armor, and ammo pays the bills.

While President Trump is funding pay raises for the military and overhauling the V.A. to make it a safer place for veterans to receive the care they need, Gen. Mattis would rather praise China.
In the column, Gen. Mattis agrees that “the principal external threat the United States faces today is an aggressive and revisionist China.” Still, he stops there in his ‘criticism’ of the communist country responsible for attacking the U.S. on every front. The column states that the United States needs to be more like China in “utilizing asymmetric strategies and technological innovation.”
This is rich coming from General Mattis, who runs The Cohen Group, of a firm whose site reads like a love letter to China. “China is a market of enormous opportunity and complexity,” says the firm’s site says as it boasts its prosperous relationship with Beijing.
General Mattis has been a part of U.S.-China relations since 1978, and in that time, China has benefited in almost every deal or exchange between the two countries. It wasn’t until President Trump replaced Mattis with Secretary Pompeo that America was given the freedom to deal with China in a way that benefits America first. The way it always should have been.
It is infuriating to see a celebrated general such as General Mattis lose his way.

He wants to paint China as our friend and ally that also has the capability of taking us over. He is right on China’s ability to control America if we aren’t prepared, but China is not our friend.
China is no one’s friend or ally. China cares about China first and only.
