Texas Gov. Greg Abbott shared a piece of his mind yesterday when he tweeted about the “No Stone Unturned” plan by the Pentagon to vet the National Guard troops “for extremist ties” before being stationed throughout Washington D.C.
The Washington Post article that Gov. Abbott shared reported that “more than 21,000 National Guard troops” were brought into our nation’s capital and “as part of an intense inauguration security effort following the “deadly” Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, authorities have launched a process to subject troops from the D.C. National Guard and a host of states to additional security screening for links to extremist or other violent groups.”
The report continues,” the Defense Department, assisted by the FBI, will conduct special vetting for National Guard personnel in Washington, who are expected to number up to 25,000 for the inauguration on Wednesday, said acting defense secretary Christopher C. Miller.”

Defense Sec. Miller said, “while we have no intelligence indicating an insider threat, we are leaving no stone unturned in securing the capital.” He called the fact that military personnel would be vetting before a major security event “is unique.”
Fox News reports that “U.S. defense officials said they were worried about an insider attack or other threat from service members involved in securing the inauguration, prompting the FBI to vet all National Guard troops coming to Washington D.C. for the event.”
This is the most offensive thing I've ever heard.
No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard. @TexasGuard
I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC.
I'll never do it again if they are disrespected like this.https://t.co/STZDMz7PGm

The idea that the men and women who sacrifice their time and possibly their lives to help protect the country should be vetted for their political beliefs feels like something out of communist China. It certainly isn’t an American idea.

Gov. Abbott agrees, saying that the vetting of the National Guard “is the most offensive thing [he’s] ever heard.” He said, “no one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard.”
The Texas governor said that he “authorized more than 1,000 to go to D.C.” Gov. Abbott vows to “never do it again” if the Texas National Guard “are disrespected like this.”
Members of the National Guard are vetted before they join; it’s part of the personal privacy you willingly give up to protect our nation. Now members of the elites in Washinton D.C. want to make sure you are conservative.
A big part of the narrative from now on will be to demonize conservatives. They want to make it socially acceptable to pass over a conservative for jobs and housing.
Reports out of Washington D.C. are alleging that most National Guardsmen are being stripped of their magazines and bullets, and conservative National Guardsmen are being stationed away from the President. What a strange inauguration this will be: no Americans allowed, military troops heavily guard fencing, and the President coming in doesn’t trust his own troops until they’ve been politically vetted.
