Reverberating the message of the film “Jesus Revolution,” thousands of individuals from across the United States and globally assembled at the legendary Pirates Cove in Newport Beach, California, for a “Jesus Revolution Baptism” event last weekend.
The monumental baptism was initiated by Harvest Christian Fellowship’s Senior Pastor, Greg Laurie. He took on this endeavor in the aftermath of the SoCal Harvest Crusade from the previous week, an event that drew a crowd of 32,500 and led to 6,794 individuals choosing to devote their lives to Jesus Christ.
Pastor Laurie, who found his salvation depicted in the “Jesus Revolution” film and was himself baptized at this very location half a century ago, was amazed at the magnitude of the turnout.

“We have around 4,000 people signed up to be baptized today, can you believe that!” he remarked. As the day went on, the number expanded even further.
In June, Pirates Cove Beach was the setting for one of history’s largest water baptisms, gathering approximately 4,100 people. Nevertheless, this Saturday saw a new record being set as Pastor Laurie, alongside other leaders from Harvest Christian Fellowship, assisted in baptizing 4,500 individuals, surpassing the previous record set by Oceans Church.

“You’re saying goodbye to the old you, buried with Christ in baptism so you might walk in newness of life, that’s what the Bible says, so you’re coming out saying, ‘I’m making this commitment’ and you’re doing it publicly in front of friends and family,” he explained.

In a poignant social media post, Pastor Laurie emphasized the historical significance of Pirate’s Cove Beach, stating, “this of course is the site of the baptisms of the Jesus Movement” of the 1970s. The same location had witnessed his own baptism, along with his wife Cathe’s, 50 years ago.
Yesterday, we held the Jesus Revolution Baptism at Pirate’s Cove.
This of course is the Site of the Baptisms of the Jesus Movement.
I was Baptized there 50 Years ago, as was my wife, Cathe.
But we never had a baptism like what happened yesterday.
