It’s true that President Donald Trump and his campaign are in the fight of their lives in an effort to expose alleged widespread voter fraud that they claim occurred in the 2020 presidential election, but that hasn’t stopped the Trump Administration from continuing their mission to protect democracy abroad.
On Tuesday, according to Newsmax, it was announced that the United States slapped down a Chinese tech company with brutal financial sanctions after they were caught red-handed (pun intended) in their efforts to assist Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s attempts to suppress his opposition and undermine democracy.
A Chinese firm by the name of China National Electronics Import & Export Corporation, felt the wrath of the U.S. sanctions on Tuesday, with the U.S. Treasury Department accusing the company of its complicity to bolster Maduro’s ultra-radical leftist government’s ability to silence citizens of the country who don’t support him, including “efforts to restrict internet service and conduct digital surveillance and cyber operations against political opponents.”

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin dropped the hammer on the company, affirming that the United States will never cease in their attempts to protect democracy at home or abroad.
“The United States will not hesitate to target anyone helping to suppress the democratic will of the Venezuelan people and others around the world,” Mnuchin said on Tuesday.

The U.S. alleges that the Chinese firm has assisted Maduro since 2017, which included various forms of tech support like training, software support and other assistance to set up a similar firewall to suppress information and internet service, much like communist China has in place for its own citizens.
“The illegitimate Maduro regime’s reliance on entities like CEIEC to advance its authoritarian agenda further illustrates the regime’s prioritization of power over democratic values and processes,” Mnuchin added.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo echoed Mnuchin’s message in a State Department release, insisting that the Chinese company “robbed” Venezuelan citizens of enjoying free democracy.
“The U.S. is sanctioning PRC tech firm CEIEC for enabling the Maduro regime’s efforts to undermine democracy in Venezuela. Their support to restrict internet service and conduct digital surveillance against political opponents is robbing Venezuelans of a democratic future,” Pompeo tweeted on Monday.
It should be noted that the United States refuses to recognize Maduro as the Venezuelan leader. Juan Guaido, a Venezuelan politician, has been recognized by the United States as the leader of the country since 2019, in the wake of what the world deemed an illegitimate 2018 election in which Maduro claimed power.
This round of sanctions is simply more proof that the Trump administration not only has the best interests of American in mind at any given time, but they’re also more than willing to take the necessary steps to protect democracy anywhere in the world where it needs to be protected.
