Today West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin once again put the nail in the coffin of another far left scheme to fundamentally transform this nation.
Democrats pivoted from their Build Back Better debacle to their so called ‘voting rights’ bill which is just an attempt to codify all of the irregularities they pushed in the 2020 elections.
They know the only way to get it through the Senate is to change the filibuster rule and Joe Manchin just put a definitive end to that push.

In response to a reporter Manchin said the filibuster “is what makes the Senate hopefully work when it’s supposed to work. We need some good rules changes and we can do that together. But you change the rules with two thirds of the people that are present, so it’s Democrats, Republicans changing the rules to make the place work better. Getting rid of the filibuster does not make it work better.”

Joe Manchin is 100% correct on this.
It would be wrong to change the established rules of the Senate with a fifty-fifty split in the chamber. You need a two thirds majority to do that.

Manchin: “Oh, I’d love to. If I’m not in committee meetings, I will be.”
REPORTER: “Anything he could say to change your mind on filibuster, a procedure?”
Manchin: “Filibuster is what we have, our rules. We need some good rule changes to make the place work better, but getting rid of the filibuster doesn’t make it work better.”
REPORTER: “Did you get any pressure from your constituents back home on that issue?”

Manchin: “Well, no. I mean, what they know about the filibuster is basically what Bob Byrd has educated people on over the years and the filibuster is what makes the Senate hopefully work when it’s supposed to work. We need some good rules changes and we can do that together. But you change the rules with two thirds of the people that are present, so it’s Democrats, Republicans changing the rules to make the place work better. Getting rid of the filibuster does not make it work better.”
