There have been several parting shots to the American people by the outgoing Obama administration, but he’s not stopping at insulting and stifling us here at home.
Now, his administration has taken a final parting shot at Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East. In a United Nations vote, that sought to condemn Israel for building settlements in disputed territory, the United States chose to abstain from the vote rather than using its veto power to defend its key ally.

The U.N. Security Council on Friday passed a resolution demanding Israel cease Jewish settlement activity on Palestinian territory in a unanimous vote that passed with the United States abstaining rather than using its veto as it has reliably done in the past.
The resolution said settlements are threatening the viability of the two-state solution, and urged Israelis and Palestinians to return to negotiations that lead to two independent nations.
This marked the first time in more than 36 years that the Security Council passed a resolution critical of settlements.
The United States’ abstention Friday reflected mounting frustration in the Obama administration over settlement growth that the United States considers an obstacle to peace.

The Post noted that shortly before the vote, several lawmakers stated that they would introduce legislation to cut of funding to the United Nations if the resolution passed.
As the Washington Examiner reported:
Senate Republicans threatened to “suspend or significantly reduce” funding for the United Nations and any American allies who support a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlement construction in disputed Palestinian territory.

“Any nation which backs this resolution and receives assistance from the United States will put that assistance in jeopardy,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Friday in anticipation of the vote.
Graham also stated that the way for the two entities, Israel and the Palestinian Authority, to make peace is by the two parties coming together without the United Nations targeting Israel.
House Speaker Paul Ryan issued a statement expressing absolute fury with the administration for its decision to withdraw from defending Israel.
WASHINGTON—House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued the following statement on the Obama administration’s refusal to veto an anti-Israel resolution at the UN:
“This is absolutely shameful. Today’s vote is a blow to peace that sets a dangerous precedent for further diplomatic efforts to isolate and demonize Israel. Our unified Republican government will work to reverse the damage done by this administration, and rebuild our alliance with Israel.”
The resolution condeming Israel passed 14-0, with the United States abstaining.
This is a terrible blow to a key ally. But with a new administration incoming that has expressed a sincere desire to repair relations with the Jewish State, there is hope that the damage can be repairing (at least to some degree).

Virtually all of the things you assert is astonishingly appropriate and it makes me ponder the reason why I had not looked at this with this light previously. Your piece truly did switch the light on for me personally as far as this subject goes. However there is actually just one point I am not really too cozy with and while I attempt to reconcile that with the main theme of the issue, let me see just what all the rest of the visitors have to point out.Nicely done.
